The City KOKSIJDE
The resorts of Coxyde and Oostduinkerke are 2 villages that have always been occupied by farmers and fishermen. 4 km long beach. 300 ha of dunes with the highest on the Belgian coast 'Hoge Blekker' 33 m high and covering a space of 42 ha. Nature reserve with access to the public, wildfowl reserve for guided visits only. Ruins of the old Dunes abbey (Abdij Ter Duinen). Folklore museum in Coxyde. National fishing museum. In summer, every Friday, open air enterainment and folk music. Last Sunday in June: at Coxyde, blessing of the sea with procession. 1st Sunday in August (Coxyde and St Idesbald) procession - paying tribute to Flemmish Art.
