The City Cefalù
Small seaside resort, characteristic of the north coast and of the island, approx 50 km to the east of Palermo. 15, 000 inhabitants, it is a tourist centre very well known for the western slopes of it's splendid hill. The name derives from the Greek 'Kephaloidion', then Kefla (head) in reference to the rock that dominates it. To see: the cathedral founded in 1131 by King Ruggero. Recent excavations have brought to light cobbled streets, also from the Ruggero era. Interesting excursions to Pollina 730 m.
