The City Jávea/Xàbia
Well-known resort with 28'000 inhabitants, in the eastern part of the region, in a convenient position, 110 km south-east from Valencia, 90 km north-east from Alicante. In the resort: shopping centre, supermarket, shops, restaurant, bar, disco, evening entertainment. Access: access via a good road. Railway station 'Gata de Gorgos' 9 km. Bus service. Altea 40 km. Denia 9 km. Calpe 30 km. For arrivals by plane: airport Valencia-Manises (VLC) 120 km, Alicante-El Altet (ALC) 100 km. Thanks to its mild climate and unique situation, Javea is suitable for winter holidays too. Fish auction every afternoon in the port, covered market. Typical fiestas: San Juan in June and Moors and Christians in July. The houses are often situated in the hills 5 - 15 km from the centre and a car is therefore necessary. In hot dry periods water may be rationed.
